Novia CareClinics is searching for an organized, self-motivated, positive, proactive individual to join the team as a Licensed Practical Nurse to work part-time within an employer based clinic in Chesterton, IN . The LPN provides medical treatment and personal care services, as directed by physician or a mid-level provider, to adult/pediatric patients seeking treatment for injuries/diseases in a clinic .
Key Responsibilities
Interviews patients, measures vital signs, such as pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height and records information in patientâs electronic chart.
Opera! tes electrocardiograph (EKG) and other diagnostic equipment to! administer routine diagnostic test and treatmentsâ"includes glucometers, pulse oximeters, nebulizers, oxygen equipment, and sprirometry; etc.
Collects lab specimens from patients for testing, including but not limited to urine, blood, and sputum; performs routine laboratory tests on these specimens as needed.
Preps patients and assists with examinations; applies compresses, both hot and cold as indicated; administers medications as appropriate or ordered by a medical provider, orally, or by subcutaneous or intramuscular injection; documents time and treatment amounts in patientsâ electronic charts.
Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients; cleans examination rooms with germicides.
Inventories and orders medical/office supplies and materials.
Maintains patient, employee, and computer data confidentiality.
Dispenses medications per providerâs orders.
Schedules appointments, performs referrals to ! specialists, and scans reports/results into electronic medical record.
Answers telephones and provides information/messages to patients and/or medical staff.
Escorts patients throughout facility, interviews patients to obtain appropriate medical information, and measures vital signsâ"includes such items as pain assessment, pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, height, and weight; records information on patientsâ electronic medical records.
Dresses wounds and incisions, interprets physicianâs instructions to patients, assists with emergencies, and performs related tasks, as directed.
Maintains patient, employee and computer data confidentiality.
Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited Practical/Vocational College with State Licensure (LPN).
Minimum of three years of nursing is preferred, with a strong emphasis on patient care.
Current certificate in Basic Life Support by either the American Hear! t Association or the American Red Cross.
Excellent verbal/writ! ten communication and interpersonal skills.
Excellent computer skills; knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Previous clinical experience in primary care office.
Phlebotomy skills and lab specimen processing.
Knowledgeable in minor office procedures, such as biopsy, lesion removals, pap smears.
Ability to work independently without onsite RN or LPN supervision.
Ability to make recommendations to effectively solve problems, using judgment consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulations, and/or government law.
Ability to focus on details, handle multiple tasks, and remain highly organized in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of CPT and ICD-9 coding.
