Department Marketing Statement The ICU is a 18-bed(expanding to 24) Trauma, Surgical and Neuro Intensive Care unit that utilizes cutting edge technology in the care of critically ill patients with a wide variety of systems involvement. Patient Care is delivered via a multi-disciplinary approach. Asso! ciates range in experience from new graduates to nurses having! 35 years experience caring for acutely and critically ill patients. Support for growth and development of new associates is provided by experienced nurses, respiratory therapists, physicians and a nurse educator. Orientation includes a competency based precepting geared to support the associate in this high-tech environment.
This role ensures the delivery of direct care to patients throughout the St. Vincent Hospitals and Health Services system. The Registered Nurse role assesses and monitors patient's health, designs and implements the nursing care plans, operates medical equipment, and works in collaboration with the other members of the medical and support staff. This position is also responsible for providing appropriate medical information and education to patients and families, and for supervision and instructing, Medical Technicians, and students. This position performs its duties and responsibilities in accordance with the St. Vincent mission and core values. Q! ualifications EDUCATION/LICENSURE Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing. Current Indiana license as an RN and BLS Healthcare Provider. ACLS required. EXPERIENCE 2 years critical care experience required. 4 years critical care epxerience preferred. Neuro and/or trauma critical care preferred. SKILLS REQUIRED Requires critical thinking, organizational skills, decisive judgment, analytical skills, problem solving skills, communication skills, and good customer service skills. Must be able to handle multiple tasks, work in a stressful environment and take appropriate actions as needed.
