Security Guard

Description: Howard Regional Health System is employing Security Guard right now, this position will be placed in Indiana. Provide ongoing security for patients, visitors and employees; protect hospital buildings, assets and premises as assigned.

Performs a detailed and thorough patrol of the hospital premises and its outside properties 2 times per shift as security policy states. ·
Prepares and maintains clear, concise, legible, and factual shift reports, incident reports and officer's notebook as established by security procedure. ·
Monitors cameras and taping monitor. Reports all unusual or suspicious incidents observed. Operates VCR equipment and reports any malfunctions in system. ·
Conducts random inspections of packages and articles being brought into, and taken out of hospital premises, according to hospital policy.

Responds immediately to the scene of all fires or fire drill locations. Files a detailed form on such. ·
Assist in re-setting of fire alarm panels as needed and directed by maintenance. ·
Respond to all disasters and disaster drills. Maintains traffic control, secures hospital, assists personnel, and performs other duties in accordance with Disaster Plan or by instruction of the Director Security. ·
Assists nursing personnel in the additional care and welfare of patients, (i.e. moving, lifting patients, controlling aggressive patients/visitors. ·
Responds immediately to emergency room requests. Shows professionalism, courteous, friendly and helpful attitude. Also willing to assist all approaching individuals.

Responds immediately to all codes and lifeline emergencies. Maintains visitor traffic control, and perform other tasks as directed by Physicians or Nursing Personnel.
·
Escorts hospital personnel, patients, and visitors to their vehicles.
·
Follows door locking and unlocking schedule according to departmental policy.
·
Maintains a clean and organized security office during their shift. Office will be clean upon relief officer's arrival. (I.e. trash removal and organized shift pass-on materials).

Officer reports to Security Office (5) minutes prior to scheduled shift.
·
Receives/transports waste from campus buildings to holding area as requested by housekeeping. Uses proper procedure (Infection Control Standards) when handling and decontamination of vehicle.
·
Attends and participates in hospital wide and departmental inservices/meetings and/or reads and initials posted notes 100% of the time.
·
Follows all established safety procedures and precautions when performing security tasks (body mechanics, universal precautions, etc.).
·
Conducts/participates in safety / security orientation programs (i.e. Work place violence, fire, body mechanics, electrical, etc.).
Participates in Process Improvement activities (i.e. hose inspections, incident reporting etc.) as directed by supervisor.
· Maintains the privacy and security of protected health information (PHI), the confidentiality of all information, and conducts all aspects of patient care charting, billing, and all operations within the system in a professional and ethical manner in accordance with Federal, State, and HRHS rules and regulations
