Purpose and Scope:
Supports FMCNAâs mission, vision, core values and customer service philosophy. Adheres to the FMCNA Compliance Program including following all regulatory and FMS policy requirements. Assists the Financial Coordinator Manager in the management of the regionâs Financial Coordinator (FC) program by ensuring Financial Coordinators (FCs) are performing the required functions with regard to tracking, reporting and educating patients and properly managing the varied financial assistance concerns an options according to the established timelines and standard operation procedures and in compliance with company and regulatory guidelines and requirements.
DUTIES/ACTIVIES :
CUSTOMER SERVICE :
Responsible for driving the FMS culture through values and customer service standards. Accountable for outstanding customer service to all external and internal customers. Develops and maintains effective relationship through effective and timely communication. Takes initiative and action to respond, resolve and follow up regarding customer service issues with all customers in a timely manner.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Provides direction and support to assigned Financial Coordinators in an area/region, acting as a resource and subject matter expert as needed to ensure the proper and timely execution of the Financial Coordinator program requirements. Conducts monthly quality assurance audits to ensure Financial Coordinators are performing the required functions effectively and efficiently. Performs monthly Financial Coordinator status reports review for the Division-communicating the results and issues to the FC Manager for corrective action where needed. Ensures accuracy of reports by comparing reports with the effective insurance reports. Works with Financial Coordinators regarding any missing information or discrepancies between reports. Provides guidance, support and expertise to FC as necessary. Communicates with Financial Coordinator Manager as to where improvement is needed. Ensures accurate monitoring of Coordination of Benefit period and that the Medicare applications are processed 90 days prior the 30 month coordination period ending as required. Ensures Timely Financial Waiver completion. Monitors eligible patients under 65 yrs enrollment into supplements during the 6 month open enrollment period. Monitors patients with the 6-month widow of their 65 th birthday. Provides FC Manager and Division Management with Documentation and follow-up for all patients categorized on status reports. Monitors the accuracy and completion of progress notes providing guidance to FC as necessary. Provides day to day guidance, training and assistance to assigned Financial Coordinators as part of continued career development and advancement within the organization. Closely monitors-providing support and guidance to-new FCs after initial training. Provides informal feedback on an ongoing basis and formal feedback in the form of the annual performance evaluation. Provides input regarding the hiring, firing and disciplinary actions pertaining to the assigned Financial Coordinators, organizing and conducting the initial interviews for new hires and promotions. Reviews and approves FC expenses. Generates and reviews the monthly 65 th birthday tracking to ensure patients turning 65 yrs old have enrolled in a Medicare Supplement. Reviews the Commercial Drop report on a monthly basis. Identifies any Commercial patient loss and researches reason for the loss. Provides FC Manager and local area and regional management with result of research and reason for the loss. May provide solutions as appropriate. Assists preparation of monthly reports for financial analysts. May carry a small caseload where there is a business need or act as back FC as needed. Participates in 50K calls, area management meetings, and RVP meeting as appropriate. Provides information at CQI monthly meetings. Reconciles FC and Regional Insurance Coordinatorsâ American Kidney Foundation spreadsheets/reports to ensure timely submissions of requests and payments. Investigates and resolves discrepancies, following with appropriate agencies and personnel as required. Educates Clinical staff and area/regional management as the FC role as needed. Provides FC Director with monthly reports in the absence of the FC Manager. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

EDUCATION:
Bachelorsâ degree required-Social Work or other Healthcare focus preferred. Or RN associates with two years nursing experience in lieu of degree.
EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:
At least 2-3 years as a Financial Coordinator Knowledge of Medicare, Social Security and Medicaid systems. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and excellent customer relation skills. Detail oriented Strong organizational and time management skills. Proficient in Excel and Microsoft Word.
