The Director of Infection Prevention plans, develops, and directs system infection prevention activities across Physicians Hospital Systems hospitals; monitors and analyzes the effectiveness of PHSs infection control program; acts as the PHS liaison for regional and national infection prevention programs; helps to prepare PHS facilities for surveys and inspections of infection prevention and surveillance measures by accrediting and licensing agencies. The candidates for this position muswt possess excellent verbal communication skills necessary in order to instruct and comfort patients and their families. Maintain effective contacts with a variety of Hospital Personnel. Must demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served on assigned unit/department. Professional knowledge of nursing theory and practice, microbiology, epidemiology, leadership, performance improvement and research statistics in order to conduct surveillance and prepare related reports at a level normally acquired through the completion of a Bachelors degree in Nursing from an approved School of Nursing.Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing as a registered nurse. Bachelors degree preferred. Experience: Minimum of three (3) years experience in infection prevention nursing in a hospital environment. Licensure: Currently licensed in the State of Indiana as a Registered Nurse or ability to obtain. CPR certification within 180 days of hire. Valid Drivers License and proof of auto insurance. Member of Association of Professionals in Infection Control (APIC) or ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire.
