The Licensed Practical Nurse performs under the direction of a Registered Nurse in providing nursing care to assigned patients, utilizing basic understanding of psychiatric and personality disorders.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
LPN required
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of one (1) year LPN in psychiatric or addictions nursing preferred
LICENSING AND CERTIFICATION:
LPN - Licensed Practical Nurse
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
May be required to work occasional overtime and flexible hours. CPR certification and successful completion of Aggression Management Program (AMP). Must pass a medication exam a! nd a basic developmental competency exam.

Functions as team lead by collaborating effectively with other team members on an ongoing basis, as evidenced by directing efforts to meet team/patient needs, effective management of emergencies and the milieu through re-prioritization of tasks, adjustment of work pace to meet deadlines, and assistance to team members as needed.
Identifies and communicates any beneficial or adverse changes in patient's physical, emotional and behavioral states to the RN Team Lead, and physician as appropriate, within a timely manner.
Demons! trates ability to manage patient workflow through appropriate use of intercom system.
Accurately manages all aspects of medication management process as evidenced by lack of medication variations.
Maintains efficient functioning of medication room by coordination with pharmacy staff to deliver patient medications in a timely manner, assure par levels of stock supplies, and address identified pharmacy/medication problems.
Provides education to patients regarding medication/treatment regimes and disease processes in an understandable manner as evidenced by use of language and materials consistent with patient age/culture/comprehension level.
Demonstrates an understanding of age appropriate concepts (adolescent, adult and geriatric) and the impact of chemical dependency on the patient's ability to meet own physical and psycho-social needs.
Demonstrates basic understanding of the detox process and use of medications, including side-e! ffects/potential reactions by successfully completing annual competency! examination.
Able to accurately and appropriately complete a suicide/homicide risk assessment as demonstrated by a passing score on an exam, clinical supervision, direct observation, auditing and/or training.
