This position serves as a highly visible entry level customer support position in a designated specialty Department. Under the supervision of a designated supervisor this position p! rovides direct phone support for specialty care clinical operations. The position serves as part of the physician office team and is responsible for, but not limited to, answering inbound calls, evaluating caller needs, and taking appropriate action. This position works in a variety of electronic healthcare systems and is directly responsible for, but not limited to, explaining policies of the organization and department, providing general information, reviewing health information via Electronic Medical Record (EMR), scheduling appointments, registering patients, requesting medication refills via EMR, facilitating access to nurse triage via EMR or live transfer, and functioning to support and provide immediate access and resolution for patients calling their IU Health Physicians office. QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Requires 2 years of customer service experience.
Requires ability to use a personal computer; knowledge of various software; and skilled dat! a entry skills.
Requires practiced typing ability. Prefer ! medical/insurance experience.
Requires ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work.
Requires ability to work independently; handle detail and work well under pressure. Prefer knowledge of clinical practices and medical terminology.
Requires ability to learn regulatory requirements.
Requires ability to effectively interact with a widely diverse population of patients and staff.
Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Requires excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
Requires ability to make decisions; problem solve; and to provide sound judgment.
Requires critical thinking skills to take appropriate action on calls.
