Provides professional nursing care to patients including those patients. Requires knowled! ge of the behaviors, developmental stages, physical and emotional needs, life cycle changes, culture, and comfort and care appropriate to the population served. Populations served by the department are identified in the department's scope of service. QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Associate or Bachelor degree in Nursing required.
Current license as a Registered Nurse in the state of Indiana or current license as a Registered Nurse in another state with evidence of application for an Indiana license required.
Requires RN licensure and licensure is considered minimal competence unless an event of error occurs.
Must have the ability to frequently work in a standing position and do frequent walking. Must have the ability to perform mathematical calculations and medication preparation and administration. Must have the ability to evaluate problem situations with judgment and discretion. Must have the ability to manage several assignments simultaneously ! and appropriately prioritize based on caseload and patient nee! ds. Must have the ability and capacity to document in clear and concise fashion with appropriate grammar and word usage. Must have the ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, Physicians, Administrator and co-workers on a one-to-one basis using appropriate grammar vocabulary and word usage either orally or written. Must have the ability to respond and react immediately with unimpeded auditory perception of verbal/vocal instructions and auditory auscultation.
Must have the ability to respond and react to visual observation. Must have the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time; some stooping and bending is required.
Current American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider CPR preferred or American Red Cross Professional Rescuer Certification at point of hire or must obtain AHA Health Care Provider CPR within 1st week of orientation prior to patient care required. Effective with new hires post 02.13.11, requires that the RN has graduate! d from a nursing program accredited through the NLN or CCNE
Must have the ability to occasionally lift and carry items (i.e., files, supplies) weighing up to 50 pounds. Must have the ability to physically apply up to 10 pounds of pressure to bleeding sites, or in performing CPR.
