Under the direct supervision of an Registered Nurse First Assistant and/or surgeon who is immediately available, the Certified Surgical First Assist participates as a member of t! he operative and invasive procedure nursing team and performs holding area duties, performs direct and indirect nursing tasks for pediatric and adult patients having operative procedures.
Experience in Endoscopic Vein Harvesting required. Rotational call required. This position is for the Open Heart Team. Position will work 7:00a-3:30p.
Requirements: Graduate of a recognized Surgical First Assistant program.
Successful completion of Reid Hospital and R.O.S.E. Orientation programs.
Successful completion of Surgical Services Department orientation and competency based skills appropriate to the position.Must be flexible and diverse to practice in a technologically complex environment.
Individual and competency based skills are maintained through ongoing assessment of competence and educational activities.Written evaluations are completed on an annual basis.BLS certification is required.Two years of Surgical Technician experience with satisfactor! y performance at Reid Hospital or R.O.S.E. or pervious trainin! g and experience as a Surgical Assistant.
