Staff Nurse

Location: West Lafayette, Indiana

At Purdue University's Student Health Center (PUSH), our staff of board-certified physicians and nurse practitioners provide student-oriented primary care as well as ongoing care for chronic conditions. Our single-minded focus of protecting our students' health and wellness allows them to focus on their educational and personal goals.

As Staff Nurse, you will greet patients upon arrival, prepare them for consultation, assess status, and respond to emergency situations as needed. You will also assist providers with procedures, administer medications, collect/handle specimens, and apply durable medical equipment as needed. Additionally, accurate documentation of all procedures, diagnoses, and interventions in electronic health record (EHR) will be part of this role. As Staff Nurse, you will participate in nursing staff meetings and quality improvement initiatives to help us to continue to improve our services and efficiencies, all while maintaining patient confidentiality.

Qualifica tions

Required:
Associate's degree from an accredited nursing school.
One year of nursing experience.
Active and unencumbered Indiana Registered Nurse (RN) license.
CPR/BLS certification.
Ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
Ability to assess patient status and respond to emergencies appropriately.
Thorough knowledge of scientific principles of nursing theory and practice.
Strong communication skills, including patient teaching.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize to complete duties in a timely manner.
Understanding of medical aseptic techniques.
Must have computer and data entry skills.

Preferred:
BSN degree.
Three years of nursing experience.

Additional Information:
The schedule for this position is Monday thru Friday with occasional Saturdays.
Purdue University will not sponsor a work visa for this position.
A background check is required for employment in this position.
