Medical Affairs Manager role will be to engage in scientific and clinical exchange with healthcare professionals conducting research or practicing their profession in disease states ! relevant to BIOMET product portfolio. The Med Affairs function needs to continuously re-invent itself by optimizing its overall capabilities, including:

Medical Research

Health Economics/Outcomes

Data Management and Biostatistics

Medical Information

Medical Scientific Liaisons

KOL/Medical/University/Research Relations

Medical Communications

Medical Education

Responsibility:
Identify, develop and maintains relationships with health care professionals (HCPs):

Engage in scientific exchange with local thought leaders and community-based practicing healthcare professionals.

Build relationships with key HCP and Scientists.

Participate in and/or manage various Advisory Boards.

Represent BIOMET at relevant scientific/cooperative group meetings.

Develop a key opinion leader outreach strategy, in concert with other internal colleagues, to ensure app! ropriate disease state education and understanding amongst tar! geted groups

Manage formal interactions with patients, caregivers, clinicians, visitors to the company and other interested parties seeking medical information about our investigational products, our clinical development programs, and the diseases to which they are directed

Establish and maintain an electronic database for tracking interactions with patients, caregivers and clinicians regarding clinical trials and investigational devices/drugs/biologic and the diseases to which they are directed

Establish standard operating procedures for engaging with disease advocacy groups and other patient-related interactions

Implement sponsorship of continuing medical education activities

Work collaboratively with the Clinical Team to implement publication/communication plans

Work with Regulatory Affairs, Legal and other internal colleagues and outside consultants to ensure corporate compliance with FDA policies governing medical e! ducation, medical communication, and other related interactions with external parties

Provide input regarding content and accuracy of medical communications material

Provides medical support at scientific meetings. This includes, but is not limited to, supporting the medical booth at major scientific congresses.

Participates in the identification and publication of scientific materials:

Monitors and reviews literature resources regarding competitors̢۪ products and updates department on relevant new literature.

Eventually, recruit and supervise Medical Science Liaisons to interact with KOLs and educate them regarding BIOMET investigational devices/drugs/biologic, our clinical development programs, and the diseases to which they are directed

Desired Skills & Experience

Advanced degree in life sciences, nursing, pharmacy or medicine.

5 â€"10 years experience in FDA regulated industry

Experience i! nteracting with disease state advocacy groups, clinicians and patients/! caregivers

Experience working with partner organizations on medical communications and implementation of standard operating procedures desirable

Solid understanding of FDA policies regarding medical and scientific communication preferred

Hands-on medical writing experience preferred

Ability to work independently, establish functional priorities and execute on goals

Excellent interpersonal communication skills

Demonstrated ability to build and lead a team
