Summary Responsible for oversight of the clinical care provided by Air Methods Community Based Services (CBS), ensuring that it consistently meets or exceeds standard of care. Involved in goal setting, planning, problem solving, clinical education, organizing, leading and communicating same to staff. Assists the management team in development, implementation and enforcement of new and existing standards. Responsible for oversight of quality improvement program to ensure Air Methods CBS division meets its goals and objectives. Performs duties of active flight crew member as needed. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists in the development of goals and objectives for Air Methods CBS consistent with the mission and goals of Air Methods Corporation.
- Directs the implementation of changes for improvement in clinical quality and/or efficiency in clinical operations.
- Responsible for problem solving and follow-up on issues through collaboration with the appropriate personnel.
- Oversees the Quality Improvement program, including clinical chart review, statistical analysis, multi-disciplinary dashboard and focused audits using TAMMA
- Facilitates medical director involvement as needed
- Oversees clinical remediation as indicated by chart reviews in collaboration with Regional Clinical Compliance Evaluator.
- Provides capital budget requests to Regional Clinical Director on an annual basis.
- Participates in testing and evaluation of new clinical equipment as requested by Regional Clinical Directors to ensure high-quality, fiscally-responsible patient care is provided.
- Facilitates the recruitment and hiring of Flight Nurses and Flight Paramedics.
- Functions as a clinical resource. Ensures Clinical crew complies with local, state, CAMTS and Air Methods and applicable regulatory standards.
- Ensures compliance with Air Methods CBS initial clinical orientation and annual education requirements.
- Implements and enforces Air Methods CBS Clinical standards in collaboration with the Regional Clinical Director, and the Regional Clinical Compliance Evaluators.
- Oversees occupational health provider contracts and appropriate treatment and follow-up for all work-related injuries and exposures in conjunction with the Regional Clinical Director.
- Coordinates communication and activities with the Clinical Staff, Clinical Base Supervisors, Regional Clinical Compliance Evaluators, and Regional Clinical Director regarding Clinical standards/operations, supplies/equipment, and program/company goals.
- Completes annual performance appraisals on Clinical Base Supervisors and assists with performance evaluations of the medical crew and Regional Clinical Compliance Evaluator as needed.
- Conducts regularly scheduled meetings with clinical staff and leadership,, including Medical Director(s).
- Maintains current licensure for each base. including: ambulance license, DEA certificate, state pharmacy certificate, CLIA waiver, CAMTS accreditation, and any other applicable licenses/certificates.
- Assists with competency evaluations of clinical crew members with annual skills, procedures and HPS training.
- Acts as liaison with specialty team coordinators.
- Maintains timely communications with Regional Clinical Director and multidisciplinary team..
- Maintains all requirements and fulfills all essential functions of a flight crew member, on an as-needed basis and to evaluate clinical competency of Clinical crew members.
- Other duties as assigned.

Required:Education:
Meets all qualifications of Flight Nurse BSN or Bachelorâs degree in health-related field* (*If the candidate does not have a Bachelorâs degree a BSN or Bachelorâs degree must be obtained within 4-years of entry into the position.)
Experience:
Three years previous flight experience One year previous management experience
Licenses & Certificates:
Meets qualifications of Flight Nurse Specialty certification in compliance with CAMTS standards. CFRN preferred.
Preferred:Education:
Graduate degree in nursing, business, or health related field
Experience:
Knowledge of local healthcare dynamics and state regulatory requirements

While performing duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions; and is frequently exposed to blood-borne pathogens or airborne particles, fumes and gases, electrical and chemical hazards, and vibrations/turbulence. Pre-employment and annual physicals will be provided to include appropriate immunizations as required, back screening, and a PPD skin test for tuberculosis.
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud, requiring hearing protection while in-flight, and at a moderate level when in the hospital environment. Pre-employment and annual audiograms will be provided to monitor for hearing loss. Noise attenuation devices will be provided to all employees, but it is the employeeâs responsibility to utilize these devices to prevent hearing loss.
